Dear Colleagues, Guests, and Friends,

We are very pleased to invite you to the International Conference 'Green' Plant Breeding Technologies" in Vienna!

Vienna must rank among the most beautiful baroque capitals in Europe. A city of waltzes and whipped cream, high culture and coffeehouse culture, it is an alluring, romantic place. As a former imperial city, Vienna has a vast cultural heritage spanning medieval times to the present day. Top attractions include the Gothic St. Stephen’s Cathedral, baroque imperial palaces and mansions and the magnificent Ring Boulevard with the State Opera, Burgtheater (National Theater), Votive Church, City Hall, Parliament and the Museums of Fine Arts and Natural History. The former imperial residences Hofburg and Schönbrunn also offer the opportunity to follow in imperial footsteps.

Contemporary architecture and institutions are to be found in the shape of the Haas-Haus, whose glass front reflects St. Stephen’s Cathedral as well as flagship projects such as the development of the MuseumsQuartier. This mix of old and new, tradition and modernity, carefully designed to ensure that the charm and character is fully preserved for the future, is what gives Vienna its extra special flair.

Vienna is located in the very heart of Europe - this is of benefit to all participants, who will be able to reach Vienna easily either by plane or train. But not only traveling to Vienna is easy - the Viennese public transport offers good connections and easy accessibility within the whole city.

At the international conference ‘Green’ Plant Breeding Technologies, international experts will share their knowledge and experience in Vienna, presenting the best of their achievements. During our conference we want to highlight several exciting topics: Doubled Haploids, Gene Mapping, Quantitative Genetics, and Molecular Markers as well as self-incompatibility, Male Sterility and many others.  You will enjoy invited talks held by experts in plant breeding as well as plenary lectures, nine sessions, and many poster presentations.

We are looking forward to welcome you in Vienna for an exciting meeting among friends where you will have the opportunity to enjoy and discover a fascinating nucleus of history and beauty and meet colleagues and experts from all over the world!
